Have not been to the Oakwood for several year but still had the same great food and attentive staff. I decided on the chicken and waffles and it was delish! Topped with two over hard eggs, white gravy and syrup and sprinkled with chorizo sausage. Lots of flavours; sweet and spicy and textures crispy and soft and pillowy it all came together wonderfully. It did not look like a lot of food but I was more than satisfied and I’d definitely have again but I need to try some other entrees.

Tried this place for the first time and it was great! The waitress was super friendly and the food was delicious. It has a variety of food options, some that are unique. I ordered the classic cafe breakfast and I was impressed that it wasn’t greasy at all like some other breakfast joints. We’ll definitely be back another time!

Love this place! Don’t know why we haven’t gone more often. I had the Cauliflower Pakora Burger with Fries and it was DELICIOUS! Smashing it before eating is a must, it’s huge and messy but worth it. We all LOVED our meals and we can’t wait to go back and try more menu items. Oh and the cake... homemade that day and YUM! HIGHly recommend getting dessert.

This was my third time having the Ultimate Grilled Cheese, and this was the best one yet. I needed comfort food today & had a craving for this magical sandwich. I don’t know why it felt even more delicious than my last visit, but everything from the crispy fries to the ratio of mashed potato on the sandwich (they say it’s a “thin layer” but it’s a generously beautifully THICC layer)...it had the “perfect amount” of greasy that it gave such a 90s Pizza Hut vibe that soothed my inner child. The service at the restaurant is always friendly and welcoming. Other recommended menu item would be the Chicken Waffle Poutine (I wish they still did Huevos Rancheros, though!). Thank you, Oakwood Cafe.

The food was amazing! We shared he fish and chips, and surprisingly, it was the best fish and chips we've had in a long time! The batter was so good, the fries had a beautiful crisp/crunch,the coleslaw was on point, and the tartar sauce was delicious. Our daughter got chicken fingers and fries, which she loved.

I am going to try to put two visits in one review. May 5th Lunch. The place was occupied by a bunch of entitled middle age white guys. Loud is an understatement. It must be tempting to book a large group, and we could have turned around and left as many did. But we stayed. As usual the service was great as was the food. I had the Breakfast Eggs and chicken on waffle. Great!! Skip ahead - dinner. place was empty. Three of us including a Foodie from BC. She was blown away by the honey chicken waffle. Service was super. I had the Brisket poutine and it made me sick because I was stupid enough to try and eat it all. Huge portions! Great food.

I have been to the Oakwood Cafe several times, but this is my first review of the restaurant. Before I get into what is great about this gem in South Osborne I will start by mentioning the two things I find that are not so great. When the restaurant is full, which is quite often, it can be a little bit noisy. The other thing is the view isn’t exactly spectacular out the windows of the restaurant. A parking lot and traffic is about all you will see. Now for the good stuff. The ambiance in this restaurant is absolutely wonderful . The tables are spaced far enough apart, that you are not encroaching on anyone else’s experience . The ambient music played in the background is not loud and one can easily hear what another person may be saying . The service is fun and on point. This time, as with my other visits, the server was bubbly and eager, too help . On this occasion, I ordered a two egg breakfast complete with coffee. The pricing was on par with other restaurants, and the food was better than expected. The eggs were wonderful, the bacon which was ordered crisp, came that way . And the toast ( one of my pet peeves at restaurants) was buttered edge to edge, as if the person making it was going to be eating it. I can’t tell you how many restaurants I’ve been to where there is just a little smear of butter in the middle of dry toast. The server did not pester me at all, but was very attentive at the right times to see if I needed anything. It’s hard to describe the atmosphere of the Oakwood Cafe. You have to go there. More than once! Highly recommended .
